Breakfast, cocktails, dinner, or cruising on the Chao Praya, Bangkok always has something new to offer.

Until 31st January, Bangkokians and visitors can enjoy a perfect start to the day by heading for Vertigo, the unique high-above-the-city restaurant on the 6th floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok. Champagne, warm croissants and fresh eggs are served from 6.30 to 9 a.m. high above the capital, away from the pollutants and petrol fumes, all for the price of 750 baht ++. You don't do mornings? Then pop into the Moon Bar for a pre-dinner cocktail before dining under the stars on dishes such as marinated tuna tartar, pan seared foie gras and grilled sea bas.

If you fancy a trip out of town, to Ayutthaya or the beautiful Bang Pa-In for instance, then take a boat trip with Horizon Cruises which leaves from the Shangri-La Hotel Pier and travels along the River of Kings to the ancient capital. Return by coach (or do it in reverse). To reach the Shangri-La Hotel take the Skytrain from anywhere along the route and get off at the New Road stop. Bangkok, Tel: 02-236-7777.
