A surcharge to pay for security to be introduced
Malaysia Airports announced this week that a fee of 6 ringgit is to be introduced for international destinations and 3 ringgit for domestic destinations. From January 15th, 2007, this will be collected as part of the air ticket cost.
Since September 11, 2001, the airport operator has been absorbing these increased costs but it can do so no longer, said Malaysia Airports in an interview with the Bangkok Post, Thailand.
Malaysia Airports operates 39 airports around the country, including the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
