It's a mad, mad world out there today.

Today is non-serious day and I offer you 3 stories to make you smile, a) fires in Japanese toilet bowls, b)Disney designed weddings and c) hopping about on the autobahn

I had prepared quite a serious bit of travel news about Singapore Airlines selling off some of their prime sites in Australia to release money for improvements in other areas, and about Air Malaysia making SAS their ground handler at Heathrow Airport, London. But then, "breaking news" flashed up one very funny item after another and I felt I had to share them with you, so here goes.

In Japan, the country's leading maker of toilets is offering free repairs to over 200,000 Toto Z Toilets after the 'electric bidet accessory' caught fire on a number of them. The Toto Z is one of the country's favourite toilets with an automatic lid, a power dryer, a massage spray and a 'tornado wash' flush facilty.

Without cracking a smile, a spokesperson for the company said that no-one was sitting on the toilet when the fire broke out, which was lucky, as the fire would have been just under the buttocks of the person seated.

So, be warned, when in Japan check carefully before retiring to what the Americans insist on calling 'the bathroom'.

Speaking of Americans, Disney has now come up with the ultimate wedding experience for the woman who wants to be different. Kirstie Kelly, US wedding designer .has created 34 'character inspired bridal gowns', perfect for girls who don't want to grow up. The idea is to give the bride a wedding 'just like in the cartoon movies' - fancy being Cinderella or Snowhwite for a day?

The princess-inspired gowns will be the centre-piece of weddings organized by Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons. Currently, Disney is hosting about 2000 weddings a year at its US resorts and on its cruise ships. The firm's marketing manager, Korri McFann, explains "We do 'being a Princess' better than anyone".

And finally, if driving on the MI between Vienna in Austrria and Budapest in Hungary, look out for a plethora of rabbits on the road. A Hungarian truck crashed yesterday while carrying a truckload of 2000 rabbits. The animals scampered, causing the road to be closed for several hours. Police are still trying to recapture the escapees who seem loathe to return to their confined quarters, although a spokesperson said the rabbits were not running away. "They are just sitting around, eating grass and enjoying the sun" she added.

Now didn't at least one of those stories raise a smile? Three heart-warming tales to brighten your day!
