On the 13th February, Bangkokians and various guests gathered in the Grand Hall of the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, to say goodbye to Reinhard Heerman, General Manager for nearly 3 years at this flaghip hotel of the Dusit chain. Khun Reinhard is returning to Germany for personal reasons, but hopes to return very soon to take up residence once again in Thailand.
At the same time, a warm welcome was extended to the Danny McCafferty who has returned to the post of General Manager which he held for many years at the Dusit Thani, until about eight years ago, when he left to manage other prestigious properties in Brunei, Singapore and Bali. Khun Danny was a popular G.M. at the Dusit Thani and his many friends were there to congratulate him on his return and to congratulate the hotel on persuading him to return.
For many years I've enjoyed staying at the Dusit hotels in Thailand,. It represents the very best in Thai hospitality and service. Dusit Hotels are far from the anonymous chain hotels met with all over the world. The Thai attitude to hospitality sets them head and shoulders above all others.
The same staff remain year after year, and it is a pleasure each time to return and find the same warm welcome from concierge, reception staff and room staff at each hotel, and to know that one's taste, even in beverages, is filed in the computer, and will be instantly called up to ensure a smooth re-introduction to the hotel.
The smooth transition from one G.M. to another that took place on 13th last is just another example of the Very Dusit, very Thai Way of Life.
