Leyana Spa and Garden, BangkokBangkok Hotel Spas Are Good But a Garden Spa in the City is Perfect
Leyana Spa in Bangkok is located in a lush green garden, background to healing treatments that restore one's sense of completeness and aid relaxation.
Spas have moved a long way from their original concept of healing, but Leyana Day Spa and Garden in Bangkok goes some way to restoring that healing sense that engenders a feeling of well-being. Four and five star hotels have long dominated the Bangkok spa scene, but as they strive to outdo each other in trendy treatments and exotic preparations, perhaps they are in danger of forgetting the original purpose of a spa - to heal the body and refresh the spirit. Leyana has found that the deft touch of a good masseuse, a calming atmosphere and freshly prepared scrubs and aromatic oils in an environment conducive to relieving stress is really all that is required. New Spa in Bangkok Set in Lush Green GardenEnter Khun Kae, young proprietor of Leyana Spa, located in a residential district just off the famous Sukhamvit Road, Bangkok, and set in a tranquil garden of lush green plants and flowers, within easy reach of all Bangkok hotels via BMS or taxi. Khun Kae will make all arrangements if you wish to visit by taxi, sending an original (and beautifully clean) London Taxi to collect you in style from your hotel or from the BMS station just a few minutes away from the Spa. Amid the flowers and plants in the garden can be seen delightful ceramic figures of cartoon-like Thai children which are guaranteed to bring a smile to the face. The entrance to the Spa has an immediate calming effect, being positively zen-like with lots of black minimalist décor and one gigantic bowl of orchids. Leyana is named after Kae's favourite orchid, the Latin name of which is Habeneria Lindleyana. Spa FacilitiesWith 13 treatment rooms, six of them doubles to accommodate couples who like to relax together, jacuzzis and large, petal-filled, luxurious white baths, Leyana Day Spa and Garden can offer everything the major and more expensive spas offer, but with the extra benefit of a truly homely and calming atmosphere. Relax in the Garden beforehandSit in the garden pre-treatment, drinking tamarind juice or lemon-grass tea while the therapist bathes your feet in a stoneware bowl filled with rose petals and warm water. Choose the type of oil for massage, the body scrub ingredients - Honey and Oatmeal, Fresh Coconut Scrub, Juicy Lemon Scrub, Thai Tamarind Scrub - discuss the facials, or the benefits of a Herbal Steam Bath versus a Floral Milk Bath while you listen to real birdsong, not taped sounds in an air-conditioned room as the city hotels must offer. After a few minutes of this tranquility (make sure you get there with time to spare to enjoy these few minutes winding down), you will find yourself beginning to relax, and by the time your therapist leads you into your treatment room, your mind will already be free of the day to day problems that cause the stress we live with. Spa EtiquetteShowers and toilets are integral to the room, disposable panties are provided, and in keeping with the design and style of the Spa, Khun Kae provides a light covering of batik cotton for the body instead of heavy towels. The spa is open until 10 p.m. each day. All you have to do is to relax and enjoy this retreat from the world at Leyana Spa and Garden Scrubs all priced at 1,450 TBht (£23: Massage 60 mins. to 130mins. from 850 TBht. to 2,750 TBht (£13 - £43: US$26-86) Facials from 2,200 - 2,700 TBht.
